BTS to provide measurement solutions to ECO3 Demonstration Action project
AirEx is a rapidly growing clean tech start-up, designing and manufacturing the UK’s first smart airbrick technology, helping householders reduce their energy bills without compromising air quality. The novel solution disrupts the building retrofit market by being a smart, connected homes platform, without the complexity of the tech, with the potential to lift millions of households out of fuel poverty.
Build Test Solutions are delighted to announce we will be supporting an exciting Ofgem backed ECO3 Demonstration Action project recently awarded to EDF Energy. The project is to carry out an in-depth evaluation of the innovative dynamic air brick solution developed by AirEx Technologies with installations being carried out by Bill Save UK.
For Build Test Solutions, the project will involve measuring the overall fabric performance pre and post AirEx with our Smart HTC solution in 150x homes. We will also be undertaking in-situ U-value measurements of the suspended timber floors in a sub sample of 20x homes pre and post Air-Ex installation. Alongside conventional steady state heat flux measurement we will be further field trialling our rapid u-value measurement methods.
The AirEx device installation and performance measurement is to be carried out over the 19/20 heating season and findings from the project will be reported by AirEx soon after. Further information about the project can be found here.
Carrying out measurement prior to specifying retrofit work and again once interventions are installed is extremely important in ensuring design aspirations can be met and the intended outcomes are delivered. Our mission here at BTS is to make such measurement more accessible and affordable to the market at large and we are delighted that Ofgem is driving innovation in this field through its ECO3 innovation programme.
