BTS amongst winners of the Energiesprong UK Design Competition

Build Test Solutions (working with Carnego Systems and SOAP retrofit) have been announced as winners of the Billing, metering and monitoring solutions category of Energiesprong’s Design Competition, held in London last year.

About the Design Competition

The aim of the Design Competition is to develop new approaches for high-performance, scalable and cost-effective net zero retrofit solutions. The solutions developed by the teams as part of the competition must be:

Scalable, able to be standardised, offer cost-cutting potential with increasing quantities, tenant and leaseholder-friendly, and must guarantee a long-term net zero standard.

The competition was launched at an Energiesprong UK hosted market accelerator day which
brought together experienced, innovative and creative suppliers operating within the retrofit and construction industry; this created a forum where companies could pitch to each other to form collaborations.

Following the event, BTS, Carnego Systems and SOAP retrofit formed a competition entry to design and develop a billing, metering and monitoring solution tailored to serve Energiesprong style contracting. On such projects, energy performance and a set level of resident comfort is guaranteed by the contractor for a period of 30 years, thus demanding a highly dependable measurement and feedback system.

BTS Managing Director, Luke Smith, comments “BTS are delighted to be working with Carnego Systems and SOAP retrofit to develop a billing, metering and monitoring solution to serve Energiesprong deep retrofits. Our intentionally simple and cost effective solution will incorporate means of measuring pre and post delivered energy performance, internal comfort as well as a wide range of risk factors including overheating, condensation and mould“.

BTS, Carnego Systems and SOAP retrofit will be mentored by Energiesprong’s experts and will also be working with Croydon Council, ECD Architects, and United Living to trial the new system. Concept designs will be presented at Futurebuild in London between the 3 and 5 March 2020.
